My path is working and better than I expected. Bagged two deer last week a buck and a huge doe. The buck was a ten point with a crazy rack and was huge. The second horn was all mangled but had six points on it and weighed in at two hundred and ten pounds which is big for Davie county. The doe was also huge and the guy skinning it thought it came from up west. So I am pretty much finished with my project because I have the deer on a path and it has worked to bag me two deer and i'm sure those two wont be the last two because theirs about a month left. I will upload a picture of a map where I hunt and show the path that they walk in my next post. This is helping me out a lot because without this project I would not be motivated to get in the woods as much as I have been. I believe that I will keep doing this each year because these deer are for the most part consistent when I set up the food plots the way I do.

This week has not been very good for hunting on my land. They started cutting down trees about a half a mile away from my stand and it was a bedding spot where they were cutting. So the rotation I got them on got all screwed up and they are not going in the circular motion I had them in. They are starting to walk far away from my stand in the opposite direction of the men cutting the trees and there waking away instead of toward my stand like I would hoped they had. Though I Have found another bedding area where I will try to draw them out of with a salt black and green apples. Hopping this works I will start taking shots on deer though i will let doe pass and look for the buck I have had my eye for the hole season.
This week was crazy for deer activity and the way I have got them moving is working out very well. So rifle came in Saturday and I was so ready to put down a buck first day. Well the opposite of this happened there were fourteen doe. They did not all come out at one time. There were four that came out at around six thirty then six more came out at seven and then as I was about to leave four more were to the right of my stand. I finally have them walking in a circular pattern to where if I miss one opportunity to shoot a deer he may come back around to my other food plot which I have set up. So I do have the deer now walking in a pattern i can predict though the times just vary and I cant solve that.
This week i have amazing news and i am very very excited. I have six buck on camera and they are all shooters. One is a 12 point which is crazy for around here and there are two ten points three eight points. Being that i saw all that it is needles to say I was in the woods all weekend. Though on the cameras they were out at around 10 o'clock and midnight so i had planned to buy a salt block and bring it out there. Well where I get them they were out so I know it was unlikely they would come out. Though low and be hold a ten point stepped out in front of me though it was about two hundred yards out. Though a muzzleoader only goes out to about 150. So hopefully when rifle comes in I will have more luck. Also i am hoping to have my monsters feeding schedule mapped out.
This weekend muzzeloading came in and I was in the woods about all day Saturday to see if I could get a deer to walk out. Now the thing is with muzzeloders you don't always have great luck with. They have a tendency to miss fire and lets just say I got to experience that this week and oh boy was a torn over it. So I must have put an expired primer and my gun and a big doe the biggest one I have ever seen walked out about one hundred yards away from me out from the brush. I got my crosiers on him I pulled the trigger and click. Misfire and the click was so loud the deer looked straight at me and ran off. So to say the least I will be checking everything before I leave the house to go hunting every morning.
This week was more or less successful in some ways. so I have gone hunting three times this week and haven't seen much. The deer I have see were upwards of 300 yards away so that would have been a possible shot for rifle but its only bow. muzzeloading comes in Saturday and I will most definitely be going. Also the monster buck has came back to my feeding plot again real late at night so he still hasn't became brave enough to come out in the mornings or afternoons. Though when rut kicks in he will be moving around and I will be loading up my feed plots with apples corn and a salt block so he will be all over that when the doe's come In to feed. Then I can begin to start recording his patterns and how he comes around when I'm in the woods.
This week was kinda stressful so getting in the woods was a relief. Well that was until i had to fun someone off my property cause they came on my land with truck and camo so i talked to him and he said sorry and left. Although the deer i spoke of in my last article is back and his G3 horn is almost 10 inches. I have been tracking him and he is coming out around 12 to 12:30 at night to feed so right now he is out of my reach because your not allowed to hunt past dark. Once i get him to come during the day by not feeding as much at night he will be forced to come during the day and i will hope to get a drop on him when rifle comes around because i want a clean shot. So next week i will let you know whether or not he is coming at night still or i got him to change his routine.
so getting into the third week i am seeing deer but not everywhere quite yet. Deer have a certain time where they go crazy and they will be on the move all the time. it is called the rut and its when buck are wanting to mate and have intercourse with doe and it makes deer move all through out today and that should come in about a week to two weeks from now. i have started to put cameras up at our feed spots to see what time there is movement and when deer start to trail in to feed. so far there have been a few and one buck with a spread that is massive (the spread is the width between there horns) and will look great on my wall if i learn his rotation a little bit better. so once i figure out his rotation i will tell you about it in my next post.
Well this week has been pretty bad for hunting. I have see maybe 3 deer all week I am hoping that today when i go it will be a lot more populated. i put out a mineral block and deer really love them and they will just sit there and lick that block while i take a shot. i got a few more things getting ready for muzzleloading season which comes in November third. i got primers, buckshot, and slugs which i can't wait to use because slug shot will rip a deer in half they pack a big punch but only under about a hundred yards. though i am just ready for rifle season because that when i shine and really get into hunting. it is the perfect temperature in this season and everything is perfect. so i will update you in a week how its going.
So this week I have started to gather everything I'm gonna need for this years deer season. Stocked up on ammo, corn, apples, and SD cards for the cameras. Also I went out for a few quick scouts of the fields this week and saw a few doe and a buck and there pattern is pretty consistent so far. I am thinking on trying out the game lands they have around Davies county just to see how deer move around game lands since they have feed spots set up already. If you did not know game lands are public and free for anyone to hunt on unlike private property where you risk jail of charges or even shot depending on who's land you may be on.
